NAYNDNG MAYEN

Where do you see yourself in 5 years?

  • In 5 years time I am hoping to be a fully qualified youth worker/florist and still continue fulling my modelling career. I would love to build a youth working shelter for young people to feel safe in and be able to come together and work on their goals/ dreams  - whilst being there to listen to all the young people and help them in any way that I can.

  • I’ve always wanted to have a flower shop that plays soul music, so I’m also hoping to open up a local community flower shop that would hire young people within the community and just give them opportunities/experience within the working field, and I just wanna be there to mentor young people and have a safe colourful flower shop with joyful soul music that’ I hope would brighten their days and bring them joy.

If you could spend a day with any supermodel in the world, who would it be and why ?

  • I would spend a day with Alek wek and just thank her for constantly inspiring. Growing up I was raised in Australia Sydney, and I was always the darkest everywhere I went and I always noticed that I was never represented in any sort of way,  So when I was 12 years old, I saw a beautiful black woman on tv modelling and I honestly was just mesmerised and started crying whilst admiring her , and I just wanted to know who she was and I found out that she was Alek wek and I was just inspired to see a Sudanese women that had the same skin complexion as me, just glowing and being unapologetically herself, and literally slaying the fashion industry.. that was literally one of the best days of my life, And honestly would just want her to know that, and thank her for constantly inspiring me to inspire myself more.

What do you love most about yourself?

  • I love my personality, and how  I’m constantly being unapologetically myself and constantly learning to love myself more and more everyday.

  • I love my skin complexion, and how I stay glowing for no reason, I honestly love how I truly admire my skin and myself and just gasp wow all the time when I walk past a mirror, and whilst asking people is that really me like wow I stay looking like this wow.

  • I love how I love to love.

  • I love how I make people feel and leave them with a smile constantly, I love exploring my brain and making peoms about the random things that I think of and sharing that with people.

If there’s one thing you could change about the fashion industry what would it be?

  • I honestly would need to see the fashion industry showcase and represent more dark skinned women because we are constantly not represented enough, and representation is really important , so I wanna be able to go any where and see dark skinned women models represented and seen. I want dark skinned models to be able to just come to a shoots and not be asked to bring their own make up or do their own hair... because the make artist happens to not have the shade, also wanting hair styles to able to work with black hair. I want dark skinned models not to feel neglected when it comes to these simple things. I just want us to be heard and listened to when it comes to these things. I just want to be represented.

what does beauty mean to you?

  • Beauty to me means, constantly being unapologetically myself and staying try to myself and never changing who I am for anyone.

  • It’ means wearing whatever makes me comfortable, doing whatever my heart my  desires
