ERIN YOUNG

What does diversity mean to you?

Diversity, to me, means full fledged acceptance and appreciation of a person, regardless of where they come from, their ethnicity, their sexuality or any other surface quality. It means a nurtured higher perspective and a willingness to evolve passed the grounds of which we have already achieved.

If there’s one thing you could change in the fashion industry what would it be?

The one thing I would change about the fashion industry is the inequality of treatment. In a pristine rose tinted view of the world - I'd make fashion a safer playing field - where people weren't marginalised or manipulated into modifying themselves for the pleasure or need of another. I would also banish toxic behaviours: such as sexual and misogynistic conduct - we all deserve better.

What do you see yourself in 5 years?

Ideally, in 5 years I would love to be continuing a job I absolutely love doing, continually nurturing myself and my body with lots of water, meditation and yoga, as well as to be fluent in at least one other foreign language. Though by that point, it would hopefully be the second or third. I would also like to be situated in a country that isn't my own, or at least have a lot more travelling under my belt.

What do you love most about yourself?

What I love most about myself is my happy go lucky approach to life and people. No matter how bad things or situations might get, I rely on my inner resilience to pluck the silver lining in the most unlikely of areas. I am thankful for being able to appreciate the beauty, even throughout the pain of whatever I may be dealing with. To be calm, even in the face of life's most tempestous paths is a blessing.
